Sick and Can’t Heal? Stubborn Fat You Can’t Lose? Here’s why:

Can’t Heal?

There are two main factors that can impede the healing cycle. But before we dive into details, the long and short of it is, your body needs the right tools, and proper nutrition is IMPERATIVE for that to happen. Not only does it need to be fed nourishing foods, the other critical piece is to remove whatever is blocking that from happening. Get rid of the toxic food and get rid of the other toxins your body is dealing with. If you’re confused about food, work with a professional with a proven track record.

Why You Can’t Heal:

  1. Nutritional Deficiencies

  2. Toxic Load

The healing cycle cannot progress without programmatic changes in mitochondrial function needed for local and organelle-to-organism signaling. The rise and fall of extracellular ATP (eATP) after stress or injury is a key driver of the healing cycle.

For example, we need to ensure that the enzymes that are part of the Krebs cycle (which is what produces energy) are not blocked (via toxic load) and that they have the correct tools (via proper vitamins and minerals) to do their job so that healing from an injury or issue can occur.

These critical enzymes uptake glucose, and if blocked, or if they don’t have the proper tools, they cannot function properly, therefore impeding healing as the cells cannot produce energy (ATP) in the mitochondria.

When we look at the second factor, toxic load, this refers to a wide range of toxins that must be dealt with on a cellular level. These can include food toxins (food dyes, BPAs, trans-fats, etc.), heavy metal toxins (mercury, lead, arsenic, etc.), bacterial toxins (SIBO, H. pylori, etc.), emotional toxins, and environmental toxins (mold, smog. etc.). How well the body’s detoxification pathways are working at removing these substances is a critical part of healing and maintaining health.

What We Eat and How We Detoxify Matters if you Want to Heal!

Let’s start with diet. Mitochondria, that produce ATP, are like small batteries that need specific types of fuel to run optimally. Macronutrients, which includes fats, carbohydrates, and proteins, with the addition of the oxygen we breathe, are used by the mitochondria to create ATP via the Krebs cycle. The macronutrients are fed into the Krebs cycle and converted using very specific micronutrients, such as many of the B vitamins. This continuous cycle of energy production is happening thousands of times, simultaneously, inside the mitochondria of our cells, and this ongoing process requires a lot of energy input in order to happen effectively.

There are several nutritional compounds that directly impact mitochondria health for the better, which is why diet is a critical part of the healing process- whether you’re dealing with disease or a structural issue. These nutritional compounds are necessary for mitochondrial function when applied in the appropriate doses. Working with a metabolic specialist can help optimize the bioavailability and absorption of these nutrients, as well as ensure that your detoxification pathways are open and flowing, ultimately supporting your own unique bioindividual blueprint in your healing journey.
